Working together for success and happiness

Monday 22nd Feb

Reading

This week we will be focusing on chapter 10.

Today we'd simply like you to read chapter 10 of Charlotte's Web. As you read, keep thinking about the events that have happened already. Keep making predictions as you read and visualize the events in your head as they happen. You may find it helpful to make some summary notes as you go today, to keep track of the events that happen in the chapter as this chapter is particularly eventful.

Enjoy reading!

ENGLISH

In English today, we will be starting our new writing sequence...... SUPERHEROES!

This will lead up to you writing a newspaper report about a superhero saving the day!

We will being the sequence like we always do, with the immerse part of the sequence. This is were we explore powerful and key vocabulary for you to use in your diary entry.

Today, we will be looking at superheroes and developing vocabulary to describe what qualities and powers a superhero has.

Take a look at the teacher talking slides below that introduces the topic and the task.  There are two videos to watch as well. You will find the links below. When you come to the part about watching the videos, you will just need to pause the teacher talking slides and then continue them once you have watched the two superhero clips.

Task

Today, we are thinking of vocabulary to describe superheroes and their powers.  Create two lists. One for the description and one for the powers that superheroes might have.

Maths

For the next few weeks or so we will be focusing on 'Fractions'.

This morning we would like you to look at: Fractions greater than one

Watch the video first. You will need to keep pausing this to have a go at the tasks.

There are slides too (same as the video) if you need to look at this more slowly and carefully.

Then, complete the worksheet. Look at the questions on a screen and write your answers on paper. Remember, the later questions are normally problem solving and reasoning questions so give these your best shot. You may need a little bit of adult explanation for these.

RE

Today we will be starting our new RE topic which looks at the different kinds of journeys people from different religions make through their lives. Our life is like a journey with all different events as we go.

Today, we'll be looking at how Christians become part of the Christian faith by being Baptised.

Follow the slides underneath which tell you all about different forms of Baptism and more about the significance of Baptism.

There are also some links to videos below too which the slides tell you when to watch. (You'll have to go back to the slides after the videos.)

Task:

Imagine that you were given chance to have a fresh start, to be reborn and start again.

Write a short paragraph about how you would like to be if you had a fresh start. Here are some questions to guide you:

How would you change?

How would you stay the same?

What would you aim to improve?

Would your behaviour change?

Would your attitude to certain things change?
