Monday 1st March
Reading
This week we will be focusing on chapter 11.
Today we'd simply like you to read chapter 11 of Charlotte's Web. As you read, keep thinking about the events that have happened already. Keep making predictions as you read and visualize the events in your head as they happen. You may find it helpful to make some summary notes as you go today, to keep track of the events that happen in each chapter.
Enjoy reading!
ENGLISH
In English today, we will be continuing our new writing sequence... SUPERHEROES!
This will all lead up to you pretending to be a reported for a newspaper and writing all a newspaper report about the bus disaster we read about from the book, 'My Brother is a Superhero!'
This week, we will continue the sequence like we always do, by developing and learning all of the grammar techniques we will be using in our piece of writing.
Today, we'll be looking at using DIRECT SPEECH!
Watch the video which will explain this in more detail. You may need to keep pausing to look at things more carefully. Then, complete the sentences on the sheet (see below).
TASK
Copy out the sentences from the sheet, you don't need to print them off. The second part wants you to put in the inverted commas around the speech. The second part, you need to add in the inverted commas and the speech punctuation.

Maths
For the next few weeks or so we will be focusing on 'Fractions'.
This morning we would like you to look at: Subtracting two fractions
Watch the video first. You will need to keep pausing this to have a go at the tasks.
There are slides too (same as the video) if you need to look at this more slowly and carefully.
Then, complete the worksheet. Look at the questions on a screen and write your answers on paper. Remember, the later questions are normally problem solving and reasoning questions so give these your best shot. You may need a little bit of adult explanation for these.
RE
In RE today, we are continuing our topic about journeys and the different journeys religious groups make through their lives. Today, we will be looking at Bar and Bat Mitzvah which Jewish teenagers have as part of their life.
Begin by following the slides and watching the two video clips. (The slides will tell you when to watch.)
As you follow, you need to keep making notes and gather as much information as you can all about the Bar and Bat Mitzvah ceremony as you will need this for your task. There are some extra information slides too which will help to give you more information.
Task
Your task today is to create an information page all about Bar and Bat Mitzvahs. This doesn't need to be too long but you should aim to include lots of facts. You could include:
-
A description of the preparations they will need to make for the synagogue service
-
A description of what will happen in the service
-
An explanation of the significance of becoming bar/bat mitzvah
-
What is significant about specific parts of the ceremony/celebrations
-
Technical language with definitions- you may wish to create a glossary section
-
Images, sub-headings and other features to make it engaging.
