Working together for success and happiness

Friday 26th Feb

Reading

Today is FLUENCY FRIDAY! It's all about reading fluently and with expression! We do this at school on Fridays and it's a fantastic chance to explore different texts and improve on our ability to read fluently. We're going to be using 'The Three Little Pigs Rap'. (We're keeping on our pig theme but looking at a different text for the day- don't worry, we haven't forgotten Wilbur!)

Look at the picture which explains more about how to read fluently and with expression. Then, have a go at reading the text and performing it yourself. Do plenty of practice and try using the techniques mentioned like using emotion and emphasis in your voice. You could video yourself doing this and send it to your teacher. We can't wait to hear and see your performances!

ENGLISH

In English today, we will be continuing with our SUPERHERO writing topic. Now that we have gathered some key vocabulary and looked at key features of a newspaper to help with your report we will now move on to the next part of our sequence which is to ANALYSE a WAGOLL (What A Good One Looks Like).

Have a look at the WAGOLL on the link below. Read through it carefully .

TASK

Use the sheet - Superhero Newspaper Report - Analysing a WAGOLL - to help you to spot all the features. You can highlight these on the WAGOLL or simply locate them. Use the checklist to tick them off. Look for key features of a newspaper, key vocabulary and grammar features. See if you can spot any of these key words.

Key Vocabulary

superhuman

Maths

For the next few weeks or so we will be focusing on 'Fractions'.

This morning we would like you to look at: Subtracting Fractions

Watch the video first. You will need to keep pausing this to have a go at the tasks.

There are slides too (same as the video) if you need to look at this more slowly and carefully.

Then, complete the worksheet. Look at the questions on a screen and write your answers on paper. Remember, the later questions are normally problem solving and reasoning questions so give these your best shot. You may need a little bit of adult explanation for these.
