Working together for success and happiness

Monday 11th Jan

Reading

Today we'd like you to clarify the meaning of certain words from chapters 2 and 3. You don't have to read the whole chapter to do this, you can simply look at the page the words are in. Remember, clarifying means we explain the meaning of the word. It also asks to think about the words type too:

Verb= Action word e.g. jumping/jumped/jump

Noun= person/place/thing e.g. farm, cow, bucket etc.

Adjective= describes a noun e.g. dazzling, beautiful, terrifying

Adverb= describes an action e.g. slowly, bravely, quickly

The words to clarify are on the sheet below.

English

Now that you have completed your research on Barn Owls and have developed your vocabulary, we will move on to the next part of the writing sequence where we ANALYSE an example of a text. Here we will look at a WAGOLL- What A Good One Looks Like.

Have a look at the WAGOLL on the link underneath. Read through this example of a non-chronological report.

Look at the sheet about what you can find in a report. See if you can spot these in our WAGOLL.

Then, you need to find these grammar features in the WAGOLL:

  • Adverbs- describe a verb e.g. silently
  • Coordinating conjunctions (and, but, so, or)
  • Subordinating conjunctions (because, if, when, as...)
  • Question

Finally, look at the WAGOLL and find the key vocabulary you learnt last week e.g. crepuscular, habitat, wingspan etc.

You could find all of these things in the WAGOLL and label them if you are able to print or simply locate them in the WAGOLL.

Maths

This half term we will be focusing on 'Multiplication and Division'.

This morning we would like you to look at: Multiplying 3-digits by 1-digit

Watch the video first. You will need to keep pausing this to have a go at the tasks.

There are slides too (same as the video) if you need to look at this more slowly and carefully.

Then, complete the worksheet. Look at the questions on a screen and write your answers on paper. Remember, the later questions are normally problem solving and reasoning questions so give these your best shot. You may need a little bit of adult explanation for these.

Spr4.2.3 - Multiply 3-digits by 1-digit

This is "Spr4.2.3 - Multiply 3-digits by 1-digit" by White Rose Maths on Vimeo, the home for high quality videos and the people who love them.

RE

Today in RE, we would like you to look at the next lesson of our topic- Why is Jesus inspiring to some people?

Follow the slides which look at Gospel stories. Then, read through the Gospel stories and think about what the messages of these stories are. Think about what these stories show that is inspiring about Jesus.

Task- design a stained glass window to show one of the stories of the Gospels. Add a small paragraph to explain what your window shows and how it shows the inspiration of Jesus.

(The slides explain the task too.)
