Working together for success and happiness

Reading

This week we are focusing on chapter 11. Today, we'd like you to retrieve information from the text and answer the questions below. You will also be using your other reading skills too like clarifying the meaning of words and inferring the feelings of characters. Remember to use the text to help you, give detail in your answer and use the question to form your answer.

Before having a go at the questions, here's a short video that explains a little more about the what we mean by the reading skill retrieval.

Questions:

1) Look at the description of Charlotte’s web on the first page of the chapter. What does it look like? Describe it and draw it.

2) What does the word “miracle” mean?

3) Who first discovers the message in the spider web?

4) On page 81, Mr Zuckerman says “I’ve always thought that that pig of ours was an extra good one.”

Is this true? What has changed his opinion?

5) How does Charlotte feel about the trick she has played? What evidence can you find in the chapter to support your answer?

6) At the end of the chapter it says Fern is both happy and unhappy about the message in the web.

Why is she happy and why is she unhappy?
