Be Kind Online

Being Kind Online: A Guide for Kids

Being kind online is just like being kind in person! It's all about using your words and actions to make others feel happy and safe.

1. Use Kind Words 🗣️

  • Think before you type. Before you send a message, ask yourself: Is it true? Is it kind? Is it helpful? If the answer is no, don't send it!

  • Write nice comments. When you see a friend's picture or video, you can say something like, "That looks so fun!" or "You're a great artist!" It makes them feel good.

  • Don't say anything mean. Words can hurt, even online. Never call someone a bad name or say something that would make them feel sad.

2. Respect Others' Creations 🎨

  • Ask permission. If you want to use a picture or video that someone else made, always ask them first.

  • Don't copy. It's not fair to pretend that someone else's work is your own. It's much more fun to create your own things!

3. Know What to Do If You See Something Unkind 🛑

  • Tell a grown-up. If you see someone being mean online, or if someone is being mean to you, tell a parent, teacher, or another trusted grown-up right away. They can help you.

  • Don't join in. If you see people being unkind, don't join in. Instead, you can be a helper by telling them to stop or by getting help from a grown-up.
