Working together for success and happiness

L.I. Take on the role of a reporter creating newspaper interviews and record answers as direct speech.

Think about the newspaper reports you have already looked at in Monday's lesson. How did the reports show what eyewitnesses said

Watch the video clip, where Harry meets Rita Skeeter.

Interview with Rita Skeeter - Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire [HD]

What do you think of her? Do you think her reporting of the interview will report what Harry said accurately? What sort of questions might she ask of Fleur, Cedric or Victor? Would her report be truthful?

Pick a champion to interview and generate a list of questions that Rita Skeeter could ask. Next, try to write answers in the role of your chosen character, punctuating the answers as direct speech:

e.g. Question: How important is winning to you?         Miss Delacour answered, “Very – Who wouldn’t want to win?”

To add a little challenge, try to take a 'Skeeteresque' approach to the answers, adding extra details that show her opinion in the reporting:

e.g. The snooty Miss Delacour sneered, “Very,” flashing her cold eyes.  “Who wouldn’t want to win?”

Try to compose at least three questions and answers.

When you have completed your questions and answers, watch the following clip of the 1st Trial of the Triwizard Tournament.

Do you think this would be an interesting event to report on?
