LI: to understand the fossilisation process

This week children are looking at the process of fossilisation and how this takes place over thousands of years. There is a teaching power point that looks at how fossils are formed and takes you through the different stages of the process.

We have also attached an adults guidance sheet that can support with the new vocabulary that the children will come across in this lesson.

The first activity allows the children to make a little booklet to help them remember the process of fossilisation.

As an extension activity we have included some cards of different dinosaur fossils and skeletons. Can the children match these to the dinosaurs?

This video helps to explain the different types of fossils that we find.
