Anti-Bullying Ambassadors

Anti-Bullying Ambassadors at CJS

We have Ambassadors from across all year groups who have attended Diana Award training this year and are working on making others feel safer around school. We are working towards gaining recognition from the Diana Award programme and have chosen to focus on our Wellbeing Badge first.

Our first action of 2019 was to take a survey during Anti-Bullying Week all about safe spaces in school. The Anti-Bullying Ambassadors collected the results and decided to act on the findings. One of the main areas where children felt unsafe was the playground. We have now put up a fence and gates around the school grounds so that children can no access the car park unattended.

In 2020, we have added to our team so that we have more Ambassadors to help us to prevent bullying in our school. We hope that the Ambassadors can work as a team to help everyone in school to feel safe and to make children aware of who to speak to if they are being bullied.

What is an Anti-Bullying Ambassador?

Anti-Bullying Ambassador training gives young people the skills and confidence to become Ambassadors to tackle bullying in their schools. We have recently purchased bibs for our Anti-Bullying Ambassadors to wear on the playground when they are on duty. We plan to launch our Ambassador training once the bibs have arrived. This will help children to spot Anti-Bullying Ambassadors on the playground and speak to them if they have any issues.

Our trained pupils are on the yard to ensure that situations are defused and pupils feel supported.  One of our action plan targets is to purchase jackets to make the Ambassadors more visible on the yard.
